Audit Commission

Name of firm:

Financial Services Authority (FSA)

Number of Employees:

Approx 3,000

Locations:

London, Edinburgh

What we do:

The FSA is the UK’s sole financial services regulator. Our remit covers four key areas: to maintain market confidence; to raise public awareness of the financial system; to ensure consumers are protected; and to target and reduce financial crime.

In today’s financial climate, a robust regulatory stance is crucial. So whether we’re working with banks, building societies and insurance companies or financial advisers, fund managers, mortgage brokers or intermediaries, we apply the same firm but fair standards. Ultimately, we’re here to give a strong lead to the industry, ensure transparency in the system and maintain London’s status as a world-leading global financial centre.

Opportunities for graduates:

We look for people with the potential to develop and the talent to deliver. Our graduate programmes are carefully constructed to give you real responsibility and valuable experience from day one. As well as our generalist programme, we have specialist law, HR, actuarial, economics and management accounting programmes.

Internships and placements:

Our Summer Internship Programme will enable you to experience first hand the responsibility, complexity and buzz of working at the FSA. Over the course of this 10-week programme, you’ll get the invaluable exposure and practical experience necessary to grow your knowledge – both of the way we work as an organisation and of the wider industry.

Why diversity is important to us:

We are totally committed to the principle of equal opportunities and are keen to attract, recruit and develop the most talented and capable individuals – regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, colour, race, ethnic origin, nationality or disability. This year 27% of new hires we made onto our graduate and intern programmes came from an ethnic minority background.
